Belief and trust or the components of animal faith are more or less costly operations, an expenditure of will so as to maintain the frame of purposes and motives. These are speculations on truth which would be the perfect attunement of understanding and reality requiring no further effort. Truth is the key that ends the need for thought, for the hypothetical. Naturally there is no reason to believe that truth in this sense exists, truth being independent of any such reason or belief.
