Without preconceptions apply the mind to the mind. Or, including preconceptions find out the truth of this event. In one case you have no idea what the mind is or what it does and that is how you proceed. In the other you have no idea what is true but you know it has to include all the possible contexts which are already in play and every expansion of them in whatever logic they reveal. These are entirely different paths but the first of these must lead to the same destination as the second, although not necessarily the other way around. There is no point in awakening the mind if at the same time you do not gain an original insight into all possible truthful contexts, an impossible task on its own and only conceivable via the form of knowledge and not its content.
