Is it the case that ownmost being ultimately prevails over being with another, over the demand of I-thou? There is a kind of dialectic that weaves between them. Every ownmost position is also a position in relation, and every position in relation is a deferral or intervention in the ownmost. It is perhaps a false dichotomy - too many contingencies in every relation, and an odd tendency it has to take on the position of anything deemed 'good'.
