There is no shortage of desire only of desiring subjects. Desire is the fundamental way in which you enter into experience since it involves you with its consequences, makes you culpable. Some desires are satisfied beyond their intention and change the manner of experiencing thereby. Even the most robust and self-sufficient of desires, however, demand payment in common coin, and in this sense is 'the other's desire'. It poses the existential question but offers no answer, and does not even pretend to. It converts all other intentions to its own currency.
