However feeble and self-sabotaging the venture, however many byways you'd prefer to ramble in, it is truth that you are after, and what can that mean but to find a transparent and immediately known accord with the true source of your being. This question is guided by an inner compass, an intuitive sense of the gap across which is the ultimate unknown, so it is entirely possible that you could close that gap, satisfy or saturate the inner compass in a way that does not amount to anything in reality. So that there is an outer compass as well, more consequential than the inner one. The two are not unconnected, could it be that they become identical? The the outer serves the inner? At any rate you do not lose respect for the outer compass and remain quietly skeptical of all attempts to cut truth down to the measure of your inner sense of disjunction, even if all that you are able to desire are the feelings, the states, associated with realisation and not the terror or impossibility of realisation itself.
