Morality for the most part either sets one desire against another desire, the former more 'acceptable' than the latter, or else operates by prohibition and fear of punishment, which again pits a more basic desire desire against a more refined one. The only true counter to desire is an encompassing and non-speculative consciousness including both the desirer and its object in a global awareness, a kind of subjective bliss which short circuits the limited economy of ordinary desire.
