Relative to this meta-cognition has infinitely many degrees of freedom since it can can gain a compensatory awareness of every limitation of cognition, but these remain latent for the most part, and whether the whole pattern repeats one level up (the meta-ego would be the 'overself' and not the super-ego) is unknown.
