The triple of symbolic, imaginary and real is an abstraction of the more concrete triple of thought, feeling and will. The key omission is will, which is the most difficult to understand, lacking as we do a differentiation of its figures in time and space. To see the world purely as will acting on will would be horrific, it must be mediated by any means possible, tamed by images, narratives and ideas. The closest thing to figures of will are elemental forces, fates, gods, daemons, ghosts.
