The collective mind's unconscious wish for its own overcoming whether by causal closure of theory, or by AGI somehow imagined as an enlarged and enraged mirror image of itself, or most likely by its complete absorption into a total system that 'understands' and anticipates it without any residue. Any of these fantasies would serve to foreclose anything that is outside naturalist metaphysics. That this is the secret longing of the world is almost a gnosticism, but possibly also a desperate intention to break out of metaphysics once and for all.
