The content of the debates is of no use, but only that they show how immediately and unthematically we are aware of depth of being, which is the same as clarity about the question of being. It inspires more envy, perhaps, than any other possession but this expresses itself in unexpected ways. Much of what is ascribed to desire actually belongs to this envy of imagined proximity to the question, which is also the answer, of being.
