You solve a problem by reconfiguring the terms in which it is posed, by casting a different light upon it, by imaginatively varying it. The same kind of strategy in regard to the mystery of life yields nothing at all. Life is not a problem, it has not been posed. But this is the only way we know how to proceed, so much of life is spent in search of new light, or reconfigured terms, for which, it turns out, anything at all can be a clue.
