Next best is to realize that there actually is some kind of shell around you, it's far from obvious at first. It's the kind of shell that recedes as you approach it, according to some strange geometry. Doesn't matter, keep going, keep trying to get a clear sense of the shell without thinking of anything beyond it. From where you are beyond can only be an illusion.
