Your implicit theory of self, that is, the theory of mind as applied to the mind having that theory, is always some kind of error if for no other reason than simply being a theory, and so an explanation, a particular kind of discursive exercise. And of course theories which abjure mind and its works are no less victims of this trap - only a mind would come up with the idea of doing away with a mind. Such theories are not without their uses, their successes, their felicities, in spite of this. The mind is what fails any theory of mind, and fails in a strong sense because it requires such a theory above all else. What is this broken thinking thing? How can it be broken if it were not formerly, or potentially whole?
