A situation of passionate engagement. At the same time an awareness of being in that situation, of its contingency, of the non-separation of the one in that situation and the situation itself. The subjective component is subsumed within the objective components which are themselves seen to be constituted in the same acts of mind; like being aware of being the dreamer and the dreamed character at the same time. Only this is not a dream, the objective components belong to a much broader causal nexus than anything you could identify as yourself. The causal nexus is not just a given, it is alive in a wider frame of time and space and meaning. You can call it conditioning, but it is also the place of the detached awareness. Whatever is mind is inside a more encompassing mind. The objectivities it is made out of echo and re-echo in impersonal memory. The understanding of this is already latent in the original situation, the transcendence is inward, is in fact a kind of immanence.
