One idea is that experience is made out of contents. For example that the now is an ever-brimming-over of a melange of sensory contents each one of which forms a frame and context for every other one. If one is named the multipolar quality of the whole is briefly lost, there is a contraction of attention and flicker in the special quality of indefinite compresent plurality. This quality is one of vertical abundance, the vital intimation of an available deepening, whose realisation would involve a series of blindingly obvious but seen for the first time moments. Consciousness always takes up something already known, extracting it from latent fullness. Even the interpenetrating waves of the sense of now are illuminated out of a prior abyss, a larger and more capacious now, related perhaps, to a quite different time-like structure.
